Our Story
Inspired by SpaceX, we started dtekt to commercialise space based technology. This intent resulted in a partnership with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) on subsidence monitoring. We intend to expand our offerings in future
The company is a B-BBEE Level 1 Contributor
Our Vision
We proactively monitor sites with the smart application of satellite data, so you don't have to
Technology
Differential radar interferometry (dInSAR) techniques have been developed to measure cm to mm scale deformation of the earth's surface. Collected by earth-orbiting satellites, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data can cover large areas, up to 150 by 150 km in extent, in a single observation.
Furthermore, since satellites are orbiting, repeat data acquisitions are possible. Data can be collected in all weather conditions, irrespective of cloud cover, thereby ensuring a reliable data acquisitions over extended time periods
How it works for you
Smart
Affected large areas can be measured efficiently, and over time, compared to traditional measuring methods such as differential GPS surveys and spirit-leveling campaigns which are often impractical and expensive.
Field-based monitoring can be directed towards target areas identified by the remote monitoring system.
Proactive and Safe
Monitoring of deformation often occurs only after signs become visible at the surface. Dtekt provides early warning capability.
Deployment of surveyors and other personnel to potentially unsafe and hazardous areas can be avoided with remote, yet accurate, satellite monitoring
